Intentional Design,
INSIDE AND OUT
Intentional Landscape
Whether you’re refreshing an existing landscape or starting from scratch, we help you create outdoor spaces that feel good. Rewilded exteriors, edible gardens, and regenerative practices are woven into the design with your lifestyle at the center. We begin by listening and observing, then move into thoughtful design and seamless implementation.
Rewriting the Language of Home, Inside and out
Chantal Emmanuel and Ashley Etling, founders of Livolia, met over 15 years ago at a tech company in San Francisco. Their paths converged in Silicon Valley, but their shared curiosity for beauty, rhythm, and sustainable design and cooking eventually led them far from the circuitry of startups and toward something more grounded, more circular.

FounderChantal leads Livolia’s exterior design, shaping landscapes that serve both people and place. Rooted in the Hudson Valley, her work focuses on regenerative design, creating outdoor environments that enhance ecological health rather than override it. She believes landscapes should respond to the rhythms of nature, not resist them, and that thoughtful design can restore, not just reimagine.
When not working with clients, you can find her tending to her flower farm in New York’s Hudson Valley.
Designing,
with Intention
Today, through Livolia, they design landscapes that don’t just look good, but feel good and function. From rewilded meadows to gardens that blend into the landscape. They design sustainably with an ode to people, place, material, and the flow of life indoors and out.
There’s a rhythm to the spaces they create, one that invites wandering, pausing, gathering, and wondering. Each Livolia property carries a signature calm, a restrained but soulful composition that leaves you both at ease and a little enchanted. One that is meant to be shared for generations to come.

FounderAshley leads Livolia’s creative direction with a perspective shaped as much by the garden as by design. Her work begins outdoors, gathering what’s in season, translating ingredients into recipes, and building tables-capes that elevate not just what we eat, but the atmosphere that surrounds it. She believes we eat with our eyes first, and that beauty, simplicity, and intentionality make a meal feel whole.
Guided by her background in architecture and product design, Ashley brings a quiet, purposeful sensibility to the home, where interiors, gardens, and the table are deeply connected.
She splits her time between Tucson and Telluride, drawing inspiration from desert minimalism and alpine abundance to create spaces and experiences that feel rooted, warm, and deeply lived in.
Sweet Sprout Salad from Gold Hill
This early spring salad was inspired by a week in Gold Hill, Colorado, and the first vibrant offerings of the Boulder Farmers Market. Roasted carrots, fresh greens, sweet sprouts, and a creamy coconut yogurt dressing come together for a dish that feels both grounding and bright, a perfect bridge between seasons.
Our love of things and spaces begins with curiosity, about where materials come from, how they’re made, and what they’re made of. We ask how each design, each object fits into and affects its environment, whether it will last, and most importantly if it truly supports our daily rhythm and well being. This kind of thoughtful attention creates beauty that endures and contributes to the health of people, place, and process. Our work lives in the spaces, the places, people call home and in the stories, meals, and moments that unfold within and beyond them. Always intentional, always timeless.
An Evening at Westerly Canteen at Hammertown: Where Design Meets the Harvest
On a warm August evening, Hammertown Barn in Pine Plains came alive with midsummer magic. Tables dotted the lawn like blossoms, styled with a blend of elegance and eclectic charm. Every corner felt like an invitation to slow down, savor the moment, and immerse yourself in a setting where beauty felt both curated and effortless.
The Stories
We share the quiet details of how people live. From the meals they cook and the objects they collect, to the places they gather and go. Told through their lens and ours, each story is rooted in intention. These are stories meant to be passed on. Think, the wine kept in a cellar just steps away, basil gathered from the kitchen garden soiled from your compost, thoughtful hosting, and the makers whose work brings it all to life. Our work lives in the spaces, the places, people call home and in the stories, meals, and moments that unfold within and beyond them. Always intentional, always timeless.
